MT WEEK

I have always loved typing and troubleshooting problems.  I worked as a health insurance claim processor and went back to school to take classes for transcription.  I loved the idea of being able to be a mom and have a career.  I also loved the portability of  a transcription career.  I got a job in a local teaching hospital with 200 new interns every summer.  I gained a lot of experience and loved my job.  The department closed and I chose to work here.  I have loved getting to work with a great group of people and developing my own career at the same time.  I have been able to meet a lot of people (over the phone or in person), travel, and sometimes even surprise myself with what I can accomplish in a day.  My hope is that everyone in this career has pride in the job that he/she does every day because it  is a skill.

  1. I had always wanted to be in the medical field in some fashion but after being a Candy Striper for 6 years and seeing what those nurses actually went through, I decided against that. Then I thought about PT but it is hard to get into in SC so our Tech offered medical terminology and medical transcription and I took those. I got a job at the local hospital in Medical Records. I left there and started working for a local company doing transcription at home and then had my own transcription service for over 10 years. I went to work for Edix/Spheris and from there to Transcend. I love the flexibility of working at home and it allowed me to do activities with my daughter in school and help with my mother while she fought cancer. It was so nice to be able to take my computer to her house and work.
